Executive Chef at Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe
Daniel Peña was born in Monclova, Coahuila. He worked in various European and U.S. kitchens before returning to Mexico to finish university, eventually working in Cuatro Ciénegas, a desert paradise in the north of the country, where he focused on management. Now, he spearheads the culinary offerings as Executive Chef at Banyan Tree Veya Valle de Guadalupe, overseeing seven distinct dining concepts. Daniel is obsessed with respecting raw ingredients and preserving all their potential: “I create very visual, natural cuisine, with minimally processed ingredients, and we closely monitor fish batches and our suppliers.

Executive Chef at Michelin-Starred Damiana
Esteban Lluis, from Mexicali, Baja California, trained at the Culinary Institute of America in New York and worked in renowned kitchens across California. Known for his dedication to Baja California’s cuisine, Esteban has served as head chef and executive chef at acclaimed establishments like Corazón de Tierra (50 Best Latin America) and Encuentro Guadalupe in Valle de Guadalupe, as well as Cala in San Francisco. He has represented Mexican cuisine internationally in countries like Cyprus, England, and Spain. Currently, he leads DAMIANA in Valle de Guadalupe, awarded a Michelin star in 2024, focusing on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients.
